Wander through the narrow lanes of Bur Dubai's fabulous textile souk to the waterside of the Creek on the way to find this microcache - or take a traditional small wooden boatride in the abra from the Deira side across to Bur Dubai water taxi station (stop 31, just outside the souk) or direct to Dubai Old Souk station.
Walking through the textile souk, when you reach Dubai Old Souk station, turn left at the waterside. This is a busy area of boatmen and other muggles so stealth is required. Looking further left from the cache site you will see a lovely terrace cafe over the water - we enjoyed a delicious mezze lunch there at the end of our geocaching tour!
Ths cache name refers to one of the manequins in a nearby stall, her yellow sequin covered sari and gaze out across the water evoking imaginary stories of a journey here... from the water, the yellow bride sees the tall towers of the mosques, and smells the choking fumes of the abra engines! What other journeys bring people here? The cache was sited with the help of my artist-collaborator Nar (Lynne Heller from Toronto) and other artist delegates from the electronic art symposium held this year in Dubai - that attracted us to journey here from England and Canada to explore the city through our geocaching art project. The idea for this cache was developed with the help of other delegates who encountered geocaching for the first time in our tour exploring geocaches of the Creek - thankyou to our team of 7 from Canada, Hungary, Brazil, England!
Our arts project creates interaction between geocaching and online virtual worlds as 'engines of difference' which lead to us making giant gallery comic books of the combined adventures exploring these different landscapes.
We'd like to hear about your experiences on the journey to find this cache, so please upload stories and photos with your log, thankyou!
