In 1633 the town of Tetbury was sold by Lord Berkeley to four local residents who were described as the Feoffees in the legal bill of sale. This document also formalised the Thirteen, literally thirteen townfolk to serve as elected town wardens. Today the Feoffees have charitable status owning a number of sites in and around the town and they continue to this day as seven Feoffees, supported by the Thirteen. They are custodians of the town who work voluntarily for the good of Tetbury.
One of the criteria for the Feoffees, to maintain their charitable status, is to provide amenity and recreational space and facilities for the people of the town. Preston Park, along with Berkley Wood and Herd Lane are used by hundreds of people over the course of a year ranging from a casual sunday afternoon walk with the dogs to daily jogging to toboggening in the snow in winter time. It is used all year round by people in and around Tetbury.
The cache is at the end of the Railway Line path at Preston Park. The path is flat and wide, so suitable for buggies/bikes and wheelchairs. However, the cache is up a slight slope at the end of the path and does get a bit muddy in teh winter. It is a small clip-lock box with room for small swapables.
Well done to skip4m1966 and Pir8sOls&New for first to log online and first to log respectively! (I have corrected the hint!)
