This cache is placed near the historic Barter Theatre by two Barter employees.
"During the Depression, Robert Porterfield, an enterprising young actor, returned to his native Southwest Virginia with an extraordinary proposition: Bartering produce from the farms and gardens of the region to gain admission to see a play.
So on June 10, 1933, Barter Theatre opened its doors, proclaiming "With vegetables you cannot sell, you can buy a good laugh." The price of admission was 40 cents or equivalent amount of produce. Four out of five Depression-era theatregoers paid their way with vegetables, dairy products and livestock." (http://bartertheatre.com/#historyalumni)
The coordinates are just a bit fishy, but the description and the hint should steer you in the correct direction (about 65 feet SW of listed coordinates.)
Easy parking is avaliable along Main Street, mere steps from the cache. And while you're here, stop by the Box Office, check out a show and "If you like us, talk about us. If you don't, then just keep your mouth shut!"
Congratulations to VTAg-LB for First to Find!!!!
