Staircase Range was named for its sandstone escarpment that has naturally formed in the shape of a staircase, which can be viewed from the Cutting at the bottom of the range. The lookout at the top of the range offers a lovely view of the surrounding bushland and mountains. A great place to break your trip when travelling between Springsure and Rolleston.
This cache is located in a lookout area only slightly off the highway, so do keep a close eye on children. As with any bushland areas, be wary of snakes.
The turnoff comes up quickly, so when you are closeby:
Travelling from Rolleston - towards the top of the range, look for the little brown 'Lookout' sign.
Travelling from Springsure - towards the top of the range, look for the 'Trucks must use low gear' sign, the turn is shortly after and to the left.
