"Eine Kleine HAGmusik" geoart celebrates the theme for this year's HAG XI event, which is "Music Music Music". Each cache features a song or an artist with "hag" in their name. It is not a power trail, but all of the final coordinates are within a 2 mile radius. All of the containers are placed in easily accessible locations, there is no need to bushwhack or cross any fences. If your GPS is pointing you onto private property, please double check the coordinates and use the hint. And have fun.
None of these caches are at their posted coordinates, see each "related web page" (link at top of this page above coordinates) for the correct coordinates. Video controls will appear if you hover.
Remember to write down the letter and number at the top of each log sheet, you will need them all for the final. None of the caches have pens, bring your own. Because the GPS was at times jumpy, each cache has a generous hint.
"The Hag at the Churn" is a traditional Irish jig, although you've never heard it quite like this. The Panamanian group Editus Ensemble infuses it with their own infectious Latin rhythms, recorded here in Cali, Colombia.
Caoimhin Mac Aoidh says a correct translation of the Irish title would be "Hag in the churn." "This refers," he maintains, "to the folk superstition that witches would inhabit a churn to steal butter. They could not abide this particular tune, however, so it would be played as a ward when the chore of churning butter was done. It was a terrible and telling mark if a woman left the house during this ritual." Queer things happen to butter. It was commonly believed that butter would not congeal in the churn if a witch was present in the house. Donegal fiddler John Doherty said this tune had the ability to drive the witch away as it contained sounds she could not tolerate, and as so, it was a valuable addition to one’s repertoire.
