The Chicken Dance, also know as the Birdie Song, is an oom-pah song and its associated fad dance is now a contemporary dance throughout the Western World. It began in Switzerland in the 1950's.

The Chicken Dance song is accompanied by a dance requiring a group of people, and it goes as follows; shape a chicken beak with your hands. Open and close four times. Make chicken wings with your arms. Flap your wings four times. Make a chicken's tail feathers with your arms and hands around your bottom. Shake your tail feathers to four counts. After one set of those movements, link arms with the nearest person. Turn right eight steps. Switch arms and turn left eight steps. Repeat dance steps, each time getting faster.

These are the lyrics to the Chicken Dance.

"I don't want to be a chicken.
I don't want to be a duck.
So I'll just shake my butt."

Happy caching.
