I have been hiking bits of the Cumberland Trail since moving to the area and it is a fantastic way to explore the natural beauty of the area. The trail offers access to beautiful waterfalls, intriguing rock formations and wilderness solitude. So when I heard there were opportunities to help construct more of the trail, I wanted in. Mark Stanfill from the Cumberland Trail Rangers Office is leading some volunteer days in November and December and after speaking with him, he would love to see geocachers turn out to help build trail. Let's turn out and show him what we can do!

Participants will be building new trail in Campbell County. Volunteers will meet at the Cumberland Trail park office at 9:00am for an orientation/safety meeting. We will drive to the trail head, hike to the worksite and return to the park office by 4:00 - 4:30pm. You must bring lunch & water since this is manual work and you will be out most of the day. A 32oz water bottle or two store bought waters will be good. You will also need to wear long pants, dress in layers, have a sleeve & rain jacket, gloves and closed toe shoes, no sandals. The park will supply all tools and gloves if needed.
Directions: From Knoxville take I-75 north to Exit#134. Drive 0.7 miles to first left just past the Cove Lake State Park Office. Take Park Road and drive 0.2 miles. Cumberland Trail Office is house on the right.
Volunteer Day may be rescheduled or cancelled due to weather.
