Part of the Lake Karapiro section of Te Awa which currently runs from the Karapiro Domain to the start of the 2000m international rowing course. This is the second stage of the Leamington - Horahora section to be completed, the first of which was completed in 2010. The next stage is to go from the start of the rowing course to a new reserve, Waipuke Park, which was opened in December 2015.
From this spot you can look across the lake to the Boatshed Cafe, to the North is the Don Rowlands Centre at the finish line of the rowing course and to the east (upstream) you can see Keeleys Reserve. If you are here on a regatta day, usually every second weekend throughout the summer rowing season, you will see past, aspiring and future Olympic Rowing Champions competing.
You will probably need to bring your own pen
PLEASE NOTE - Logbook is missing; I will leave the GC active but may not be able to replace logbook until June. Feel free to take a photo facing something interesting on the lake like a duck or a rower or even just a wave :)
