Fishing can be fun but some fish names don't sound so nice. I mean which would you rather catch? An Elver or a Cod. It would have to be a Cod for me every day of the week. Of course the choice could be a Dab or an Eel, it would be hard to choose between a flatfish or a bootlace. Nobody can deny though that a Dogfish would be a nice catch, and would no doubt leave others seeing red. However, for many people the biggest catch of the day might just be a humble Herring.
Another thing, fishing is meant to be relaxing but the one thing that gets me angry is fishing shot. What was the person thinking about when they decided how they were classified? It is so confusing! I am really surprised there isn't a No.0 split shot with a weight of 0.00 grammes. Look at a No.4 for instance is it really .2 grammes? and is it really the same weight as 2 No.8 shots? It just leaves me feeling like I have a Herrings brain. To be fair though the box you buy them in gives it away, they are almost always coloured red.
