This is a great place to watch aircrafts taking off on 05R or 23L at the TPE (Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport). Most of the flights use 05L or 23R, so you have to try your luck, and be here at the right time. This is quite a popular place on the weekend, you can drive up to the fence and watch the flight taking off in front of you without leaving your car. The place is roughly the mid point of the runway, you will be able to see the flights just took off or meters from the ground. There is a security guard looking at the terminals inside a booth about 30 meters from the fence inside the airport. He doesn't really care what is happening outside the airport fence, because he is keeping his eyes on the traffic of airport vehicles, and there are razor wire fences surrounding the airport.
If you have ever came across some taiwan aviation blogs with nice photos of aircrafts taking off from TPE, this is where the photos were taken. But its not at the GZ, its about 100 meters from gz. That secret place is not easy to get there, because there is no path, and you will need to cross rivers (you won't get wet). When you are at this secret place, you will be standing about 3 meters from the ground, looking at the airport over the fence. The security guard will see you, but he doesn't seems to worry about it. I guess he has seen lots of people with big camera lens up there.
Please keep away from the razor wire fence, it will cut through your clothes. Other then that, you can join the crowd to watch the aircraft taking off, and taxing inside the airport. GZ is outside the airport and away from the fence, although the security guard won't be alarmed if you stand right next to the fence, the razor sharp wires are potential risks. The cache is a nano, if you are here on the weekend, watch out for muggles.
It's getting dark, but there are still several muggle cars here. The aircraft in the air looks small because it took off from runway 23R, which is on the other side of the airport.
