Geocache Description:

Get Your Kicks on Historic Route 66!

I love finding caches along the good ole "Mother Road" and while out caching today.....I seen this spot and its a picture perfect spot for a cache and mainly because of the awesome Route 66 History here at this very spot.

First off, if you look to the east you will see a still standing large stone building that was from the Route 66 days. (hmmm..wonder what it was back in its heyday?)

I absolutely love old Route 66 relics and ruins like this....and I like to check out books at the library on these old ruins and relics, as well as check out websites about them.

Some were service stations/gas stations, some were General stores and some were Roadside Motels!

Another cool Route 66 reminder is here right where you park....

You will notice 2 round pieces of concrete with a small bit of pipe still stuck in the middle.

There must have been a gas station on this corner...and the concrete circles must have been the supports for a sign, or lights above the gas tanks.

Cool, man!---I dig it!.....haha

Now onto the cache details.

Cache container is a small quart sized plastic jar thats filled with toys for the kiddos (mostly small "action figures")

I had used this container up on the Frisco Highline Trail by my house, but I recently archived it. (thankfully I still had it in my truck)

The logsheet is placed inside ANOTHER container...which is a pill bottle  (a sure-fire method of keeping that there logsheet DRY..haha)

I didnt have my Etrex, so I had to use the c:geo app on my smartphone to take coords.

Still, this is a very easy find and not a whole lot of objects to search anyways...haha

I placed a large, cool sandstone rock (GENTLY) on top of the container.

Plenty of roadside parking,--because this semi-circle pull off area used to be the parking lot and location of the corner gas/service station that was here...(again I find that way cool!)

Since there is a house across the street, I wouldnt recommend searching for this cache at night!

Dont forget your pen/pencil (sorry...I forgot to put one in)

Enjoy the cache and the cool history of the Mother Road

Get your kicks on good ole Route 66!

Cache on my friends.....
