While out looking for places to put geocaches, I found we needed one at the entrance to the town of Mina.
Mina, South Dakota was named for the daughter of A.J. Earling, the president of the Milwaukee railroad in 1881.
Today, Mina, South Dakota is a small town just outside of Aberdeen that is struggling for survival. Mina is a farming town that lies too close to a much larger city, that provides the shopping and entertainment needs of the community, causing for a dwindling population. The grain elevators, a church and some residential homes are about all that remains today of Mina, SD.
