For the past six months or so I have been watching this little park take shape (all the while planning to hide a cache here.) In the beginning, the Boy Scouts were here on Saturdays, breaking ground and working through the hot summer days. Later, the city council seemed to take over. Regardless, a whole lot of volunteer hours went into this little community gathering place.
Today, on Saturday, November 8th, the Crescenta Commons was dedicated and opened to the public. A scroll signed by community members was placed into a time capsule and lowered into the monument. The surrounding benches were donated by community members, the plants are drought tolerant, and the monument also serves as the dial of the "human-size accurately placed sundial." Donor tiles also form two colored rings of the sundial.
Enjoy your visit and please be stealthy, as there will likely be dog-walking muggles aplenty.
