Geocache Description:

If you love adventure and you love history, then this is the cache for you. The best way to get to this cache is to follow the FS road until you meet a trail that goes to the right. There will be a sign nearby. Follow the trail up over the hill till you reach a grave site which I have given a reference point. From there the cache is close by. Have fun exploring the area.

The Spokane mine was founded in 1890. It was originally intended to be a gold mine, but the mine also produced silver, lead,[4] beryl, copper, mica, hematite, graphite, and zinc.

In 1927 the town had it's best year of mining production and put it's money into building a schoolhouse. The mine eventually closed in 1940 and the town soon became abandoned. If you have not yet found the nearby Ghost Town:Spokane multi-cache I highly recommend it. It will take you on a tour of the area rich in history.
