We pass the sea wall construction site every day on the way to work and decided to pop down for a look at the progress.
£22m is being spent on the Anchorsholme Sea defences, an area where major flooding occurred in 1927 and 1977. Flooding to the prom, the road and tramway occurs regularly during storms when waves overtop the existing sea defences. The solution is to replace the existing concrete sea wall, which dates back to the 1930's, with a new concrete sea wall and at the same time raise the prom to stop the road flooding several times a year. Work is due to be completed in 2016/17. We've included a couple of photos to show the current progress!
Well done to Airhorns for the FTF
