A sign for the Bold Moon Preserve suddenly appeared recently, even though the land was purchased in 2008 and I was excited to find a new natural area in the county to share with others. A local chapter of the Sierra Club takes care of it and there are several trails that are well maintained leading to the river and a rock outcropping with signage along the way.
This would make a great cache to take the kids to help find - an easy puzzle and some goodies at the end!
The coordinates above are NOT the final cache location. To find the location you will have to solve the puzzle below. Go to coordinates N 36° 10.460 W 079° 39.445 to find the unusual tree formation. Read the signage to determine the correct final coordinates:
X= Red Oak and Red Maple, X=2
X= Sycamore and Mountain Laurel X=5
X= River Birch and Black Walnut X=7
X= Mountain Laurel and Red Maple X=9
