Welcome to Wilberforce Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ackriff: I trialed another cache before activating again however this one went missing too. As the nearby neighbour now parks his car and enters his property next to the GZ I've decided to archive this one. Thanks for playing.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Wilberforce - a nice quick park and grab.

History:

Wilberforce is one of the original settlements established as a township by Lachlan Macquarie, colonial governor of New South Wales 1810-21. It was named after William Wilberforce (1759–1833) who was a British politician, philanthropist and a leader of the movement to abolish the slave trade.

There are a few interesting places here including:

  • Macquarie Schoolhouse & St Johns Church
  • Wilberforce Park
  • Australiana Pioneer Village
  • Wilberforce Cemetery

Wilberforce is the birthplace of bushranger Captain Thunderbolt.

The Cache:

Should be nice and simple for everyone.

Parking is quite close, although please take care when exiting the GZ as the 4 way intersection is in a bit of a blind spot.
