A JASMER asks geocachers to find one cache hidden in each month since geocaching began in May 2000. As time passes, this challenge become harder and harder as these old-timers are disappearing. To find the elusive “2000” caches, one must travel hundreds of miles. Not as elusive, but let’s not overlook the planning and determination required to find the 2001, 2002, 2003… caches. The newer the geocacher the more difficult this is – there is so much ground to cover and many of these gems are being archived every day!
Over the last year, I’ve cheered on my friends as they made that detour on the way to Midwest Geobash or drive up past Kalkaska or re-route the family vacation into Pennsylvania. This challenge is for them. The focused and the determined… those that sacrifice and those that are obsessed. For the geocachers that have journeyed many hours to walk the miles into the woods just to touch a piece of history.
1. The cache is at the posted coordinates. The D/T posted is for the challenge itself - the D/T for the final is D/T 2/2.
2. To qualify, you must have found at least one cache placed in each month from January 2001 to the present month. You can see my grid (as of May 2024) below.

3. Prior finds count. If you are unsure if you qualify, check out theGrundalow’s challenge checker
4. The preferred method is to include a screenshot of your grid with your log. As these stats are not posted on geocaching.com, you will have to acquire this grid from another source. Two of the more popular options are:
- GSAK – You can use the FindStatGen3.gsk macro
- Project-GC.com – After authenticating, you can find the grid by clicking the Statistics menu and select Profile Stats under the Profile section.
5. If you are unable to include a screenshot, please list each cache found in a bookmark list or add a note to this cache page. Each listing must include the cache name, the cache pub date, and GC Code.
6.Logs without proof of qualification will be deleted within 1 week of posting.
7. (Optional) Share a story about the most challenging or rewarding adventure you experienced to fill your grid.
For those caching to qualify, explore the “Historic Caches of Michigan Counties challenges” GC30JWA – that will help you fill your grid while qualifying you for some neat challenges.
On the way to qualifying, stop by DougPeterson’s “A Decade of Caches Challenge” GC3NXKN.
And if you can surpass both challenges, visit bretina’s “The JASMER Challenge (Michigan Edition)” GC2EGP9.
