The 1851 Ecclesiastical Census lists 14 places of worship in Tring and the surrounding area including New Mill Baptist. The area has been described as a hotbed of non conformity and the Baptists were particularly prominent.New Mill is one of the oldest in Hertfordshire and was established in a period of religions liberty between the Civil War and the restoration of the monarchy . The 1662 Act of Uniformity led to its closure but the accession of James II and the grant of religious liberty to Roman Catholics also applied to nonconformists and New Mill reopened. After this it had a somewhat chequered history which can be read on the church website.

The coordinates take you to the church. There is parking nearby .
PLEASE BE CAREFUL with Little Cachers and Dogs whilst doing this cache as there is a busy road to cross
23/10/18 As at least one of the graves is becoming difficult to find, I have decided that it is time to refresh this cache, so I have chosen another grave to visit, which is easier to find and can easily be read from a main path - If you have previously gathered the information, don't worry the final is at the same location
And now to the cache –
