Outside of summer, Low Beach is usually void of people. It’s a great place to collect flotsam and watch birds and seals. Keep your dog on leash here. If you have a mellow dog and some time on your hands I recommend walking up and down the beach and till you have several curious seals following you, then have a seat, get comfortable and watch the seals while avoiding eye contact. After a few minutes, lay down and watch how high out of the water the seals pop up from the water as they try and get a better look at you and your dog.
It is against the law to ever approach a grey seal or harbor seal in the water or ever on land. Seals can go into shock from fear very easily. Never feed a seal, it is illegal and dangerous. Seals have sharp teeth and fragile sensibilities.
If you seek this one in Spring, bring your binoculars, the amount of birds who brave the rough surf is amazing.
