Time for a Paddle Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Rurik_farserkr: With the DNFs and my inability to get out to Spring Bank at this point in my life I am going to say so long to Time for a Paddle. It has been fun and I hope to get out at some point in the future.

Geocache Description:

I love going out to this Island and was a little disappointed to find that it only had one cache on it so here is hoping. It takes a little effort to get out there but when you do take a packed lunch and make use of the BBQ area.

Springbank Island is located in the West Basin of Lake Burley Griffin, adjacent to the suburb of Acton. The only means of access is across the Lake by boat. The perimeter of the island is lined with trees. The island is quite bare, other than the treed picnic area and shelter (at the western end of the island). The island is not irrigated, there is no power source on the island, and overnight camping is prohibited. Barbecue facilities, tap water, picnic tables, and toilets are available. The National Capital Authority is responsible for oversight and management of the island. Springbank Island is the venue for Canberra Beach Cricket, a semi-annual beach cricket carnival.
