Geocache Description:

This is the first cache in the "-ology" series. Finding this cache may require some knowledge in binomial nomenclature (scientific names) and dendrology (the study of trees). Bring a device with Internet access or research the scientific names and terms beforehand to help you.

North of Independence Grove on the Des Plaines River Trail, there is a grove of Picea abies, a non-native species that looks out of place amongst the Acer saccharumCarya ovata and Quercus alba that normally inhabit the region. The cache is located within this grove. Please return the cache exactly where you found it. Bring your own writing utensil.
