Rock Chalk Red Trail #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hiking10: Even though this one has 17 favorites and is within 10 feet of the trail, in the summer it is a bear to get to due to stickers and poison ivy. Getting tired of Maintaining the Rock Chalk Series of geocaches after nearly 6 years. I'll let someone else have a chance to hide caches in this series of trails since I've had the area blanketed with my 13 caches. However, I'm leaving two popular geocaches active close to the Sports Pavilion Lawrence (SPL) building.

Geocache Description:

One of a series of 13 geocaches located within the Rock Chalk Park in NW Lawrence. The cache is a homemade mediuam sized container with a screw on lid.  It is located on the Red Trail behind the Sports Pavillion. It contains “round TUITs” and miscellaneous trinkets. Log and Pencil provided in the cache.

Simple, easy cache for the new Rock Chalk Park trails. This is one of 13 caches created by this owner for Rock Chalk Park.  They are intended to get geocachers out on the trails rather than the easier Park and Grabs.  The caches are relatively close together to keep it interesting for kids. There are two trails (the Green Trail and the Red Trail) which are both loop trails 1.7 miles in length.  You have to start out on the Green Trail to get to the Red Trail with three separate crossover locations.  No signs currently exist on these trails but maps are available in the Sports Pavillion.

Trails are easy but there are short but steep concrete inclines at both ends of the Green Trail.

This larger cache containers contain wooden “Round TUITs”.  If you’ve ever said you didn’t get something done or accomplished because you never got “around to it”, take one of these wooden discs and you won’t be able to say that anymore as you’ll have a “Round TUIT”.
