Tempe House was constructed for Alexander Brodie Spark (the name of the near by Drive bears his name) between 1833-1836 and originally covered 12 acres.
The sisters of the Good Samaritan Order added the Chapel in 1888 for the penitents that then were accommodated in their Refuge.
