Parking at the given co-ordinates, you will be at the entrance to Crough Woods, which offers a lovely walk alongside the Mahon River. Before venturing too far into the woods the cache will be on your right hand side, just before the picnic area. To access the cache you will need to cross the Mahon River. This can vary in difficulty due to change in water levels which can cover the stepping stones needed to cross the river ... without getting wet! Once across you will see the ruins of Palliser Mill on your left which was owned by John Palliser (1817 - 1887). Most of the Palliser records were destroyed in a fire at Comragh House, so little is known about the history.
A timeline of John Palliser can be found here.
The cache itself is located in the tunnel by the river.
NOTE - Do not stray onto private property (including the mill) up the bank to the left of the tunnel. There is a sign above the tunnel warning of this. The cache was placed with very kind permission of Sean Murphy who owns the property nearby.
