Just one look at the Korana will tell you why this river is not only a favourite of the inhabitants of the Town Karlovac - cits on Four Rivers but also an attraction for many visitors to Karlovac, whether they are just passing through or have consciously decided to spend a weekend or hot summer afternoon on the banks of this beautiful river in the heart of the town.
As the only registered river bathing area in Croatia, and the recipient of the Green Flower and Tourist Flower awards, Foginovo is experiencing a third "golden age". As early as the end of the nineteenth century, analyses showed that the water of the Korana had medicinal properties, and the beach thronged with guests in search of relaxation, refreshment and health. In the 1970s and '80s, the Korana had a hard time when itcame to accommodating all the weekendvisitors. This image has become increasingly frequent in recent years after the renovation of the bathing area.
Besides its numerous amenities (bowls, beach volleyball, table tennis, basketball, skittles, and exercise facilities, and in the river itself attractive facilities for younger bathers and a waterpolo area), it is worth emphasising that Foginovo is the only river bathing area in Croatia that caters for the needs of disabled visitors. However, bathing is not the only fun on offer to visitors. There are dance and recreation activities, various sporting tournaments, keep fit activities in and out of the water, and larger events, of which the River Cinema deserves a special mention. These are just part of what’s on offer at Foginovo, which this summer awaits you in a new and more colourful form.
