Mangaļsala ir sens zvejnieku ciems bijušajā Mangaļu pagastā. Līdz 1840. gadam Mangaļu pussala bija sala, tā izveidojās 16. gadsimta otrajā pusē. Daugavas un tās toreizējās pietekas Lielupes izvietojums ievērojami atšķīrās no tagadējā. Lielupes ūdeņi ieplūda Daugavā pa tagadējo Buļļupi. Daugavas grīva atradās vairāk pa labi no tagadējiem Vecāķiem. Mangaļsala izveidojās, kad Daugava lielos pavasara palos pārrāva lielo Buļļu salu pie tagadējās ietekas. Ar laiku Daugavas grīva sāka aizsērēt ar jūras smiltīm, 1567. gadā upe izlauza savu tagadējo ceļu uz jūru. Tās vecā gultne kļuva aizvien seklāka un seklāka, tā pilnīgi aizsērēja ap 1840. gadu un izveidojās Mangaļu pussala.

Mangaļsala is an old fishing village in the former parish Mangaļu. By the year 1840 Mangaļu peninsula was an island, it formed the second half of the 16th century. Daugava estuary was located to the right of the current parents. Mangaļsala formed when the Daugava large spring floods broke the large island of steers at the present estuary.
