Geocache Description:

Discover an ancient building near Rouken Glen park in this simple 2-stage multi.

The cache is not at the published co-ordinates, but just a pitch and a putt away – and not on the golf course.

By the 8th green of Deaconsbank Golf Course stands a well-preserved medieval dovecot. The building can actually be seen from the path at the southern end of Rouken Glen park, but you’d never spot it if you didn’t know it was there. The circular stone building is estimated to date from the 16th century. The rocky outcrop next to it apparently features prehistoric cup and ring marks, although I haven’t explored it to try to find them.

To find the cache, go and visit the dovecot at the published co-ordinates. It’s easy to walk to from the park, but watch out for flying golf balls and take care not to disturb any golfers putting at the green. How many arched pigeon-holes are there? If the answer is X, the cache can be found at N 55 47.50(X+1) W 004 19.1(3X).

[Final co-ords updated 26 Dec 14: Not easy to get a fix on the GPS at this location, but hope they're now a bit closer to where the cache is hiding.]

Congratulations to Johnsar for being First to Find!
