Came upon this old ranch ruin. It is just amazing to think people actually lived out here. This is the third homestead site we've found just in this area. The Dam Sandpig cache east of here shows that people were really invested in the land, building dams to collect every bit of water. I had read that western NM was one of the last areas to offer the homestead act: I wonder if this is some desperate person setting up in the dese.rt because there is no where else to go.
The ojito is such an amazing place. There are glyphs to see, and amazing desert sculptures. Kids can do these hikes, although watch for snakes. We encountered some huge bear tracks while walking in the arroyos.
