Rock Chalk Trails Entrance 1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hiking10: This cache has gone missing many times. It has disappeared again and I'm not going to replace it again. Hate to give up on a "Favorite". Normally I've been able to find it after a DNF by a geocacher. People who find it too often don't put it back where it came from or maybe think it would be better to hide it "IN THE ROCKS IN THE WALL" so they do. Sometimes they even put it back on the fence/wall across the sidewalk from where it belongs. I've looked several times this week for it and can't find it anywhere.

It has always been at the corner of the wall and on the ground.

Geocache Description:

A GEOCACHER REPORTED SEEING A COPPERHEAD SNAKE AT THIS CACHE SITE. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. The cache is a homemade container with a screw on lid.  It is located at the south entrance to the Rock Chalk Trails near the Sports Pavillion. Since it is small. it originally only contained a few “round TUITs” and miscellaneous trinkets. Log and Pencil provided in the cache.

DO NOT MOVE THE ROCKS IN THE ROCK WALLS. IT IS NOT IN THE WALL. The container lid unscrews. Please DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN when replacing the lid.

Simple, easy cache for the new Rock Chalk Park trails. This originally was one of 13 caches created by this owner for Rock Chalk Park. 12 of the caches have since been archived. I kept them all maintained from 11/19/2014 until 2021. Got to be too much P.I., thorns and stickers to keep the other maintained. They were intended to get geocachers out on the trails rather than the easier Park and Grabs.

For hikers, the trails are relatively easy but there are short but steep concrete inclines at both ends of the Green Trail. And you have to take a Green trail to get to the Red Trails.

There are a few trail map signs on the trails but they are limited. Trail maps are normally available in the Sports Pavilion Lawrence building.
