Geocache Description:

Jubilee Park, Mount Lofty, is one of Toowoomba’s largest parks comprising 293ha of bushland below the escarpment with spectacular views across the Lockyer Valley. It is part of the National Bridle Trail and popular with bushwalkers and runners. However, it is tailored more towards mountain biking.

Jubilee is home to the Toowoomba Mountain Bike Club (TMBC) which formed in 2005. After almost 12months of weekend construction by volunteers, the club had completed a 1.5km double black diamond downhill track (‘Mackenzie Frenzy’) and around 3.8km of cross country track (‘Rollercat’). The park now boasts around 20km of mountain bike trails, developed and maintained by the TMBC.

This cache is placed near the start of Mackenzie Frenzy, which is accessed  via Harvey Street, Mt Lofty. This double black diamond track is Queensland’s first legal downhill mountain bike track. According to the International Mountain Bicycling Association – Australia, a double black diamond is described as: “Extremely difficult trails will incorporate very steep gradients, highly variable surface and unavoidable, severe obstacles. Suitable for highly experienced mountain bikers with excellent skills.”
