Jumbo Crossing Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

swimcd: I put this series together as a baby Jumbo, and I was able to take care of it while I was there. While I am not too far away now, I think it is time to step aside. During covid, I dont think its a bad idea to keep foot traffic around the school down, and by archiving these, I hope a future Jumbo cacher can place some hides of their own. I will be collecting the in-place containers this week.

Thanks to all who made the trip and the finds!

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Tufts University!

This Jumbo cache series, named after our mascot, will take you on a geocaching tour of our awesome campus.

Enjoy!

When I first came to Tufts as a high school senior, I fell in love with the campus. It was exactly what I had been looking for in a university: near a city, but with room to breathe; the right program, everything fit perfectly. The only downside-- incredibly few caches! So with this series, I want to introduce people to the Tufts that I love, and put some new caches out there. So, I hope you come to enjoy the University as much as I do! As this series is placed over a college campus, the muggle factor is high (more so in some places than others), so please be sure to use stealth. Extra kudos given for including pictures with your logs.

Happy Caching!!

Jumbo Crossing

Where you are standing right now, at the corner of Packard Avenue and Professor's row, is an intersection of two arteries of the Tufts Campus. Professor's Row is home to most of the major fraternities and sororities on campus, and Packard Avenue not only hosts a few of the dorms, but also is home to the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, one of the major portions of our Liberal Arts school.

If you take a quick look around ground zero, you will see Gifford house (the home of the President of the University) towards the east, located on a large open studying space known as the President's lawn, the tennis courts towards the north, and two fraternity houses to the south and west. If you go north on Packard avenue, you will come across the Academic quad, which was the original campus of the original university, and going south will take you towards the dining halls, and further on to Davis square. Professors Row will take you east into the heart of the university; past the Tisch library, the Campus Center, and ends at the Anderson engineering building.

Parking for this series is accessible to the non-Tufts public in the Dowling Hall parking garage on Boston Avenue for a fee of eight dollars, or along Boston Avenue free of charge… Anywhere else is at your own risk!

Super special thank you to Tufts Facilities and Linda Snyder to approving the placement for this series of Geocaches!!
