This cache is placed in honor of America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. This is a teaching zoo located on the Moorpark College campus. The students are part of the Exotic Animal Training and Management program (EATM). This program offers preparation for students interested in entering the animal care industry.
They have quite the variety of animals, such as monkeys, birds, reptiles, lions, and a giant 80+-year-old Galapagos tortoise. Several of the staff are available to educate about the animals, and feeding time is very fun to watch for the various animals. It takes about an hour to casually walk through the entire zoo. Also, they have animal shows at the front to showcase the exotic animals and to give students presentation experience. There is a low fee to get in to the zoo, but going in to the zoo is not required to find this cache.
The Zoo is open to the public, and the parking is free on the weekends. The good times to grab this cache would be when classes are not being held, which would be nights and weekends. There is less muggle traffic during these times, as well as more likelihood of finding a parking spot.
The cache is a park and grab with a hide-a-key container that has been camouflaged to fit in with its environment. Well… maybe in a weird off color jungle. Please bring your own writing utensil and re-hide well.
Good luck! Have fun!
Let’s go geocaching!
