Kaum zu glauben aber auch Wultendorf hat einen Berg! Den Wachtberg! Hard to believe but also Wultendorf has a mountain !

Im Jahr 1704 als der mährische Söldnerführer Johann von Lamberg, im Volksmunde “Sokol” oder Scheckel” genannt, Laa und Staatz überrumpelte diente dieser Wachtberg als Verteidigungsanlage.
Auf dem Tumulus neben dem Wachtberg (hinter ihrem Standort) stand früher eine Kirche die 1871 abgebrochen wurde. Heute steht an Stelle der romanischen Kirche eine Kapelle.
Der Kirchberg bildete mit dem Wachtberg eine mittelalterliche mit doppelter Umwallung versehene Wehranlage die in den unruhigen Zeiten vergangener Jahrhunderte gute Dienste geleistet hatte. Durch die Errichtung des Friedhofes wurde das Hauptwerk teilweise zerstört.
im Jahr 2010 wurde durch den Dorferneuerungsverein Wultendorf ein Kleinprojekt “ Aussichtsplattform Wachtberg” gestartet.
Ziel dieses Projektes war, dem Wachtberg wieder seinen ursprünglichen Charakter zu verleihen. Er soll dem Besucher einen Blick in die umliegende Ebene ermöglichen. Entlang des Zugangweges wurde der Berg mittels einer Natursteinmauer gestützt, sowie der Aufgang auf die Spitze des Berges mit Erde angeschüttet. Auf der Natur belassenen Plattform wurde eine Sitzgruppe aus Granit aufgestellt.

The aim of this project was to give the Wachtberglifte back its original character. It provides the visitor a glimpse of the surrounding plain. Along the access path of the mountain was supported by a stone wall, and banked the rise to the top of the mountain with soil. On the untouched natural platform a furniture granite was installed.
