The Beatles ninth album was released on November 22, 1968 (exactly 46 years prior to this cache) It was self-titled "The Beatles", but because of the album cover it is more commonly known as "The White Album". Most of the songs for this double album were written on the band's trip to Rishikesh, India but recorded in the Abbey Roads Studio. Because the band had unlimited recording time, there was little attempt to rehearse anything as a group, so everything was captured on tape, after which they would overdub voices and additional instruments. They ended up taking over 4 months to record the album.
Recording was marked by arguments amungst the Fab Four. Ringo Starr has said that you can hear the band breaking up as you listen to the album. Out of the 30 songs on the album, only half of them feature all four members of the band. The Beatles reached number one on the charts in both the United Kingdom and the United States and has since been viewed by critics as one of the greatest albums of all time.
