The cache is about a half hour uphill walk from the Karangahake Reserve (one way). Cross the bridge and at the top of the ramp go up Scotsmans Gully track, a small track which leads you to the top carpark. You can also access this top carpark by crossing the road bridge north of the reserve and continuing up the road, keeping left.
Go up the gravel road and take the second turn off - the No 7 Level track (if you keep going straight, you get to the Talisman Mine). The cache is hidden by the 'cliffs' (the rock face). Take care with children as there is a steep drop off here - the cache is on the right so no need to get close to the edge.
We chose the cache location becuase of the nice views from this spot. When you get there, you can either walk back the way you came, or, for the more adventurous, continue up and take the Dubbo 96 track down then turn left and follow the Crown track along the river back to the reserve. Allow 2-3 hours for this loop - it includes a stream crossing and tunnel so bring a torch.
FTF honour goes to Dieselthedog.
