St. Mary's Catholic Church. In 1903, the Sisters of Charity and Christian Instruction of Nevers established themselves in Withdean, then within the parish of St Joseph's. They acquired land close to Preston Park in 1907, and architect Percy Lamb started work on a new church for the area on 9 August 1910. St Mary's Church celebrated its first service in 1912. The building is of Kentish Ragstone and Bath Stone with a slate roof, and is in the Gothic style. A new sanctuary was added in 1978.
