The Number 12 bus in South Devon runs every 10 minutes a peak time journeying from Newton Abbot to Brixham. This series will follow the route taking in places of interest a few minutes away from a bus stop on the route.
Hollicombe Beach
A few minutes from this stop you will find a fantastic view of Torbay over Hollicombe Beach to Torquay. This makes a wonderful spot to view the Red Arrows on their annual visit to the Bay.
Hollicombe Beach sits between Torquay and Paignton. A small quiet beach of distinctive red sand backed by tall cliffs. Access to the beach is either via Hollicombe Park, through the tunnel and down the slipway or via a set of steep steps on the western side. It is even possible at low tide to gain access from the adjacent Preston Beach. Please take care as the tide comes in quickly and can cut your access off in moments.
You are looking for a small cache, - contains a logbook - The area can get busy so stealth is required at all times, especially as this is the third replacement and be aware of the brambles and nettles in the warmer months - gloves would be useful
