I žive oni u nama i mi svaki dan živimo s njima.

English:

The cross at the confluence of the Vuka in Danube

Rivers have always meant life. With them with the most civilization, and Vukovar, this marvelous city that can rightfully be called "Arc de Triomphe Croatian", was built on the banks of two rivers: the Danube and the Vuka. Maybe it's just because they became so powerful and decisive in key moments that have decided the fate of our country. He stayed and unswerving.

There, in the center of Vukovar, at the confluence of the Vuka and the Danube, a monument was erected for those who gave their lives for freedom and independence. Its author, sculptor Sime Vidulin, he made him in the shape of a cross. At the point where the always overlooked the wide, mighty river, now standing white cross - as a symbol and as a memory - but the warnings. The monument was erected in April 1998.

"Who dies fair, he shall live forever" - carved the oldest Croatian script, in the Glagolitic script. And they live in us and we live every day with them.
