This cache forms part of the 5 Bridges series, a series of 4 caches, all associated with bridges, scattered around NE Cumbria, each containing a clue leading to a bonus cache (GC5H09N). The clue is written on the top of the log sheet. Our hope is that everyone who completes the series will have discovered at least one new place they haven't been to before (and be happy they did!). Each cache is in a location where there are walking options for those that want to make a trip of it.
This cache is placed near to the 18th Century St. Andrew's Church where there is a suspension bridge over the river which was built in 1877 to replace the boat service that previously connected the church to the rest of the Netherby Estate. There's an information sign in the church car park. It is a lovely spot (there was even a Kingfisher hanging around when we placed the cache) and there is a right of way along the river to the South (from the car park) if you want a pleasant riverside walk before or after finding the cache. Alternatively it could be a quick park-and-grab if that's your preference!
The container is a magnetic key box (replacing the original rather more interesting container) so no room for swaps and bring your own pen. The church is still active so best not to go hunting the cache around service times!
