Trixie81: Went out tonight to check on this one . Ivy has overgrown GZ and it is difficult to search at night due to amount of traffic, during the day there are builders in at yet another property so time to say goodbye to this one.

Geocache Description:

Parking is on street next to the church but it is busy . It is a short walk to GZ. You can research the numbers before leaving home or visit the church . Please take care at GZ as it is overlooked. The final position has been moved and is nowhere near any bird tables!

The church was built by Fr Henry Hardy, an Anglican convert and descendent of Captain Hardy of Trafalgar fame, who also built churches at Berkhamsted, Boxmoor and Rickmansworth . It became clear by the 1960's that the church was too small for purpose but it was not until 1995 that real steps forward were made and the main axis was turned around by 180 degrees, with the former sanctuary becoming a baptistery and Lady Chapel, and the tabernacle placed in a recess in the former aisle. The first Mass was celebrated in the new church on 11 November 1999 and the building was consecrated by Archbishop Murphy O’Connor on 16 February 2001.
