Stan's Apple Number 1

Welcome to Stan's Apple, 36 mystery geocaches hidden around Stanthorpe, home to the Queensland Geocaching Mega Event 2015. A variety of geocaches await, so get solving and organise a trip to the Granite Belt.


Stanthorpe is a large and prosperous town located along the New England Highway, and is well known for many facts. For this cache, you will need to answer the questions below correctly, to get the co-ordinates for GZ.

A. Stanthorpe was founded by miners. What were they mining?

If Aluminium, A = 5
If Tin, A = 6

B. Stanthorpe holds the record for the coldest temperature in Queensland?

If yes, B = 6
If no, B = 5

C. Stanthorpe is know for what two fruits?

If Banana's and Kiwi Fruit, C = 1
If Apple's and Grape's, C = 2

X. Girraween National Park is located just out of Stanthorpe and has massive granite outcrops, large angular tors, and precariously balanced boulders. What does the word 'Girraween' mean?

If Place of Flowers, X = 8
If Place of Boulders, X = 9

Y. Quart Pot Creek runs through the middle of Stanthorpe. Was this the original name of the area now known as Stanthorpe?
