Geocache Description:

The Manuka Track is one of the great small walks around the Te Kauri Scenic Reserve.

The Te Kauri Scenic Reserve is only an hour from Hamilton and is 1,100ha of native bush, 500 year-old kauri's, stunning karst landscapes, wetlands and wildlife.

The Manuka track is a strange walk into the native bush around the Waikato. With the Waikato being mostly flat a lot of the native forest is on the hill slopes. This usually means we mostly walk up hill to get to caches in the bush, this time we are walking downhill to the cache.

Park at the listed coordinates, and please make sure the car is secure, there has been some problems in the past, and head over to the trail head. Again please be careful crossing the road, as cars do travel fast on this road. Head down the Manuka track to the cache.

Once the cache is found, you can either return the way you came, or if you,ve got some spare time you can follow the track beside the Waikuku Stream, and then return up the Sheep track. You'll return back to the road on the Kawhia side of where you parked your car. Again please be careful crossing the road.

These three tracks are well maintained, well marked and easy to follow. The complete track should take you about 1 1/2 hours at a nice leisurely stroll.
