Novo Runway in Central Queen Maud Land is one of the few entry points to the Antarctic continent. The flight from Cape Town takes about 6 hours. From here scientists are distributed by smaller aircraft to various scientific stations in the Queen Maud Land area and many inland expeditions to the South Pole and mountain areas are starting.
