The Brownlow Medal was formally Charles Brownlow Trophy.

It is a individual award given to a player who is judged to be the fairest and best player in the Australian Football League

during the regular season.

This is decided by votes by the officiating umpires after each game.

The Medal has been awarded every year since 1924 with the exception of an intermission from 1942 to 1945 due to World War 2.

The players are ineligible to win the Medal if they have been suspended for on field offences.

The 1946 Brownlow Medal was won by Don Cordner from the Melbourne [demons] Football Team.

He had 20 votes.
