Step into a quieter stretch of the South River, where time, water, and the elements have slowly shaped what you see around you today.
Not everything along this corridor is obvious at first glance. Some features fade, weather away, or are reclaimed by the landscape itself. What remains can feel subtle, easy to overlook unless you pause, look closer, and let the surroundings tell their story.
This area offers a glimpse into that quiet transformation. Whether it is a natural feature, a remnant of past use, or simply the way the river continues to reshape its banks, each visit reveals something slightly different.
Take a moment here. Listen to the movement of the water, the rustle of leaves, and the stillness in between. This is a place where change happens slowly, and what endures carries a story of its own.
South River Stroll
This geocache is part of the South River Stroll (SRS) series within the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area.
Following the path of the South River, this series highlights the quieter side of the landscape, shaded trails, flowing water, and the hidden ecosystems that thrive along its banks. Each cache offers a different perspective, encouraging you to slow down and discover what makes this corridor unique.
As you continue along the South River Stroll, you may begin to notice how the river connects it all, shaping the land, supporting wildlife, and leaving behind small clues for those willing to look.
A Brief Cache History
This location reflects the collaborative spirit that continues to shape and sustain the Arabia Alliance series.
AMNHA: Three Billy Goats Gruff, created by Deere57, PinkyEA, and The GeoJunkies!, was the original cache hidden here. That hide inspired future placements in this same area, helping carry the story forward.
GeoButterfly10 continued that effort with a follow-up cache, keeping the location active and connected to the growing series.
Later, Umwareagle and ckirbee partnered with the Arabia Alliance team to give this cache a new chapter. One version featured a creative hide designed by Umwareagle, a hollowed-out club placed beneath the bridge as a nod to the original Three Billy Goats Gruff theme and the idea of what might remain long after the story had passed.
While that version has since been replaced, the spirit of the hide lives on. Today’s container was designed for durability while still offering a bit of that “treasure among the ruins” experience for those who come searching.
