Since 1833, Port Colborne (then the separate communities of Gravelly Bay and Stonebridge) has been cut in half by a canal.
The channel you see when you are at this cache is where the first canal extension, as well as the second and third canals cut through town. To the south, you can see the weir dam, beneath the Main Street bridge. This dam controls the flow of water into Lock 8, a few short blocks away on the new canal channel.
Be cautious and watch your step when you are looking for this cache. While you will stay several feet from the waters edge, The water in this part of the old Welland Canal moves very quickly and the bank is fairly steep.
The cache in question is a small camoed pill bottle. Log only, so bring your own pen. Have fun searching, and watch out for muggles!
Congrats to DCBRJ for the FTF!
