This cache has been archived.

Redtail2000: This lil bugger has disappeared yet again. It was in a very high traffic area so at this point I will put it to sleep. Sweet dreams😎...

Geocache Description:

This is a series of caches at or nearby sites that my geodog, Redtail, visited as a certified therapy dog.  Redtail is my golden retriever who loves to geocache with me.  He’s got a nose for a cache and knows when to sit and stay while I sign the log.  He is exceptionally sweet and kind.  When he was a puppy Mr. Redtail2000 and I promised that we would get him certified as a therapy dog.  Admittedly, he had to take Canine Good Citizenship twice because during the final exam he jumped on the instructor… but only because he loved her so much.  Those goldens sure do love to be a puppy!  Finally at the mature age of eight, he’s made the ranks as a therapy dog certified by the Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers.  Now I get to share with you some of the more poignant events that occurred during our visits.  Please always be mindful and respectful of your surroundings when caching at these sites.

Redtail has a special place in his heart for children because when he was a puppy my grandson who was 3 at the time was staying with us for the summer.  The two were inseparable.  So when we visit University Hospital we usually spend a good portion of our visit on the Child Life units.  On the other hand, we have also been known to follow nursing staff to adult units after they meet Redtail in the hall or elevator on their breaks.  The hardest part usually is at the end of the visit when the kids ask to leave Redtail with them so they can take him home.  One little boy just kept hugging Redtail telling him how much he will miss him after meeting him only ten minutes prior to that.  The only reason he let us leave is because I gave his mother Redtail’s card that has his picture on it.  That way we’re remembered long after we’ve left the unit.

Good coords will difficult to obtain for this cache so you’ll need to rely on your geosenses.

Cache on…
