Geocache Description:

Part of a series along the route of the Number 12 bus from Newton Abbot to Brixham

The Number 12 bus in South Devon runs every 10 minutes a peak time journeying from Newton Abbot to Brixham. This series will follow the route taking in places of interest a few minutes away from a bus stop on the route.

Oldway Mansion

A few minutes from this stop you will find Oldway Mansion with its grounds.

Oldway Mansion was originally build by Isaac Merriot Singer as a family residence. The imposing house has had many roles over the years including being used as a hospital during the First World War, a country club, for training RAF cadets during the Second World War and most recently by Torbay Council for offices and as a wedding venue. It looks like it may have a future as a hotel but is currently not extensively used; however the grounds remain open to the public and include a bowling green and tennis courts

Please take care with rehiding this one as I have had to replace this on a few occasions. Please use stealth when it is busy here
