Geocache Description:

This is a quick and easy cache. A good excuse for a quick stop when driving along Lier valley. Slow your speed, strech your legs and do a little caching.

Speed limits

We do love our children, so we try to protect them with different solutions to avoid any accidents in the traffic.

UPDATE 28.11.2021. Sorry to say, the road department has changed the solution for speed limit at the spot. The unique sign that chaged speed limit during the day is replaced with a standard metallic 40km speed limit sign and speed reducing bumps. Auch!

Where a road is close to a school, the speed limits are adjusted to reduce the risk for accident’s. But the childrens are not in school all hours. This is why we got alternating speed limits in such places. The old solution was based on an information plate, below the original sign telling us the speed limit. The plate told the time for reduced speed. See illustration for an example.

The new technology has given us the solution you can observe north of the cache. A small white box on the pole below the speed limit sign. This hold some electronic devices that switch the first digit between 5 and 6 depending on the hours. If you are here at night, it says 60, as maximum speed in km/hours. At weekdays during school hours, it says 50.
This is a better solution than the old one. You can hardly misunderstand this today. No extra information is needed on a plate below the speed limit sign with this solution.

Wish you all a safe drive without any accident’s!
